Iceland

Ten days in Iceland and it rained for eight of them. We had two clear days and made the most of every hour. Skogafoss, the DC-3 wreck at Solheimasandur, and a lot of time with the Icelandic horses who are genuinely some of the friendliest animals I've met anywhere.

The drive to Landmannalaugar was properly sketchy - we took a rental car through river crossings that the rental company definitely didn't sign off on. Multiple times. The highlands feel like another planet, and getting there felt like earning it. Mid-year but still absolutely freezing. Iceland doesn't do summer the way the rest of us understand the word. Twenty-four hours of sunlight, which sounds great until you realise you have no idea what time it is and your body clock is completely gone.
